Iloilo-Kalibo Birthday Trip

Iloilo was one of the places I had planned to go to this year, and I was glad that it happened. (The trip was a birthday present from my cousin. Xiexie!) In those days, I had felt safer in Iloilo than in Kalibo. Maybe because Iloilo is more peaceful and quiet. I love how the Ilonggos talk because it’s so calm and soft. There’s not much to see and do in Iloilo, but I like it. I think it’s one of the well-off cities here in the country.

Here are the highlights of my trip:

Garin Farm Pilgrimage Resort

This is one of the tourist spots you must visit! I love how heavenly look this place is.

The entrance fee is Php150. Farm animals will welcome you with a smell upon entering. Haha. But after minutes of walking, you’ll see the man-made lagoon where you can do some activities like boat paddling, kayaking, etc.

The most challenging you can do here is to climb the 456 steps and see the main attraction of the resort. On your way up, you’ll see statues of the famous Bible stories like Adam and Eve, Noah’s Ark, The Ten Commandments, The Last Supper, The Crucifixion, etc.

Holy Trinity Divine Healing Ministry

Mother nature is beautiful! I love it here.

Molo Church & Plaza

The church doesn’t look old and looks like it was not built in 1831 anymore because I think it’s newly renovated but still beautiful.

Esplanade/Riverside

My nephew’s dad is one of the engineers who built this. Esplanade is just a park alongside the Iloilo river where you can stroll, play games, and eat in nearby restaurants. This is where you can find the I am Iloilo stand.

Boardwalk & Playbarn

This is where the restaurants are, and a place to play trampolines at Solana Premiere, rent a bike, etc. It’s along the riverside.

Bakhawan Eco Park

We didn’t make it to the end of the trail because of the rain, and we cannot risk our lives for it.

Hotel

We stayed at Smallville 21 Hotel in Iloilo (walking distance from Boardwalk and Esplanade) and Marzon Hotel in Kalibo. You can all search for it, I don’t have photos of the hotels because I hadn’t thought about it, but the hotels are nice!

Food

You all should try the sisig of Ocean City Bistro in Boardwalk, Iloilo and Rose and Angelique R&A CafĂ© in Kalibo. R&A has a nice ambiance and it’s Instagram worthy. I don’t have photos again.

Expenses

We didn’t commute because my cousin’s husband has a personal driver and car there. I don’t know how much we had spent. But I think it’s more than Php12,000 per person + the gas.
